Illinois Toll Roads

For those who are passing through Illinois this summer, the toll plazas are currently not taking cash. If you have either an IPass or EZPass, you’re fine. I would suggest getting one if you don’t. The alternative is to pay online, which is a pain. You will need to either write down the numbers of the toll plazas as you pass by, or go online to figure it out.

Not entirely accurate, they don't send a violation until the 3rd pass,
I had a bad transponder, recieved a violation, 3 passes 2 were a year old and one was recent.
Can't comment on the current situation

I've done it for the last 20 years, just don't go thru a tool booth a third time during that year.

"Under the Illinois Tollway's regulations, Notices of Toll Violation are sent to customers who accumulate three or more toll violations within a 12-month period. The Tollway will send out a violation notice within 90 days of the user's third violation."
