Indiana Road Closure:I69/SR37
Major closure for about a year southwest of Indy on the remaining section of SR 37 between segments of I69.
The official detour is acceptable, but there is no real benefit of using any part of 37 between Indy and the closure. SR67 to SR39 back to 37 at
Martinsville or the reverse is as good of a route. You can also run I70 between Indy and US-231 (two-lane) and connect back to I69. A little further, but probably less traffic.
The area around the closure is likely to experience heavy traffic at times.

Could you please clarify. Is I-69 closed? We use 69 when we travel south. Thank you!

I69 is not closed, just the prob of the route that they've chosen to become I69 near Martinsville. I have to go to Eville for work from Indy, so this is going to be a pain.

Before I69 was ever considered, everyone going from Indy to Evansville went I70 to Terre Haute and took US41 south. US41 is a 4 lane divided highway.

I went to Evansville and back from Indy this past week towing my fifth wheel. Took 67 down to Mooresville as that is the advertised truck detour. Then 39 over to the south end of Martinsville, which feeds you onto I69. There was traffic, but it was very easy and no concerns either way.

Had a girlfriend in E'ville in the early 80s, and I lived on the NE side of Indy. I made the mistake of trying to cut the corner by going SR67/57 just once. Took me over an hour longer than the 70/41 route.
The 67/57 had lots of slow old folks, tractors, deer, and no passing zones. 70/41 had some of the worst pavement anywhere in the country, and tons of cops.
I-69 has to be a major improvement for the state.

US41 is better, now. July 2010 in a car, coming from the south, Pennyrile Pkwy, crossed over to Evansville, took I-164 bypass (now I69) around Evansville, short stretch on I-64, US41 was great, hardly any traffic. Were driving to see family.
