Indio, CA to Bakersfield, CA

I am planning a trip that involves travelling between Indio and Bakersfield.

I have travelled I-210 around the northern side of Los Angeles. Is there a decent route that avoids Los Angeles completely?

Go west on I-10 a little way and turn north on 62 Turn left on 247 when you get to it When you get to Barstow, go left on I-15 for a few miles and turn right on 58 58 will take you to Bakersfield Ed

Exactly.

Be aware however, that item #11 is just a small detour where cal-trans is working on an overpass. No big deal as you are only off the freeway to get past the overpass.... 1 minute to traverse.

That's good to know. I was over that way in mid Dec and they were still working then.
