Indy to Hilton Head

Were headed to Hilton Head from Indianapolis in June. Wed prefer to avoid the Smokey Mountains if possible. Does anyone have a suggested route that isnt too difficult to drive? TIA

If you want to avoid just the Smokies then just take 70 over and pick up 95 south. But if you are talking all of the mountain range, Appalachian Mountains, it is a long region. It goes from Canada to central Alabama. Several different interstate routes thru there to choose.

81 and 77 are not difficult at all through Va, NC, and SC. Finally, pick up 95 for a short hop into the "Low Country".
