Kerrville to Mission

Leaving Kerrville and headed to Mission TX in a couple weeks. Was wanting to bypass San Antonio. Thinking about two routes. In Kerrville exit TX 16 use 534 Bypass to TX 173 to Jourdanton. Then TX 16 to 44 over to US 281. Or at Jourdanton take 97 over to US 281. Is there any issues with either of these routes? Opinions? Better option? Thanks.

TX173 is pretty good 2 lane road. From Jourdanton down to Freer on TX16 is oil field traffic, not heavy but mostly what you will encounter. IMO Id go from Jourdanton to Pleasanton get on IH37 to US 281 down to the valley. I'm a retired truck driver and have used those roads many times.

I drove some of those roads while in the area in 2019, overall not awful, but certainly some twists and curves, which made them popular with motorcycle groups.
