Lebanon, PA to Mystic, CT
We will be going from Lebanon, Pa to Mystic, CT on Sunday. I have looked at three possible routes.
1. I76 Pena Turnpike to I95 shortest
2. I78 to I95 next shortest
3. I78 to I80 to I287 to I95. longest
Route 1 will coast about $100 and requires going through NYC on I95
Route 2 no tolls but still requires going through NYC on I95
Route 3 is longer but bypasses NYC and connects to I95 just south of CT
I am leaning toward route 3. Looking for feedback.

If I was pulling my trailer, would want to avoid NYC traffic at any cost.
In a Class A or C not as much of an issue. You didn't indicate what your rug is, though.

I have been that route to NE many times. Avoid going thru NYC the GW bridge can be a nightmare if you're there at the wrong time. The Cross Bronx Expressway will test your MHs durabilty.
You choice of the third option makes the most sense. It may be longer but it could very well be faster.

DEFINITELY option 3 - 78, 80, 287,95. You do NOT want to take I-95 thru NYC and across the George Washington Bridge!!! This route takes you across the Tappan Zee Bridge - believe you will still find some construction there, but NOTHING like you would find on the GWB! I-95 along southern CT is no picnic, but not horrendous. Worst part will be around Bridgeport. Last I knew, it was greatly improved thru New Haven. The route may be longer, but it will be quicker! One accident near NYC can tie it up for HOURS! Enjoy Mystic - going to visit the Seaport? ST

Of the three options you've listed, 3 is about the best. We just drove most of that route last week. I-78 is seriously bad road, both general pavement and bridge joints. I won't go there again. Some stretches are tolerable if you camp in the left lane and stay there, but if I were you I would make the jump up to I-80 immediately on departing Lebanon. We drove that leg of I-80 last fall and it seemed good, iirc.
I-287 is in good shape, at least to Suffern. We haven't done the Tappan Zee and the Cross Westchester in a few years based on the condition of I-684, and I-95 in western CT. We continue north on I-87 to take I-84 through CT, although we found last week that NY has allowed their portion of I-84 to deteriorate badly. May have to alter again.
Anyway, enjoy your trip!
