Limon co to Amarillo via 287 & 385

Trying to avoid all the construction on I-25 south of Denver. Has anyone taken US 287 and 385 south out of Limon to Amarillo? We're in class A with tow vehicle.

We’ve travelled that way numerous times with a Class A and a toad. Certainly a peaceful path. You’ll likely encounter more grasshoppers than other highway traffic. Only suggestion is to avoid the harvest season … many farms out there.

We also enjoy that route (vs I 25/87).

We have done that route a couple of times in the last 4-7 years overall good route, just be aware civilization is limited (I think there is only 1 town of over 10,000 people on the whole route, most towns are under 1,000), though most have a gas station or two, maybe a small cafe and a dollar store. There are also few rv parks along the route.

p.s. one time I drove it and it was overall good, the other time lots of cross winds and some very scary looking black storm clouds that caught us in SE Colorado in the middle of nowhere south of Kitt Carson, CO. Both trips were in the summer July / August date range.

I cut over to 83 outside of Colorado Springs and took that all the way to 225 in Aurora last time. Beautiful drive and you miss all the construction on 25.

Have you also looked at 70 over to Salina then down to 35 and OKC?

We're partial to that way to avoid the Denver to Colorado Springs mess. Agree that stretch in Oklahoma has the potential to shake and loosen a lot on the RV, not to mention your fillings.
