Little Rock AR to Washington DC

Hey everyone,
Wanted to get some opinions from others, our first long RV trip is going to be from Little Rock, AR to Washington DC, then to Richmond, then to Charlotte and then back home.

I'm planning on coming home via I40 strictly because of time, which by the way I hate i40, I have done that drive a lot.

That gets to my question, I am looking at alternate routes and sort of leaning going up to Sikeston, then heading east from there towards Lexington, then continuing on over to DC.

Any thoughts on that route? I have 6 days to do the leg from little rock to Washington, so its not going to be terribly rushed, but do have to make progress every day.

Thanks for your opinions and suggestions.

Hi neighbor!

I came back from Nova Scotia to Little Rock on a motorcycle last year and hate I-40 maybe as much as you do. I came down the Western Kentucky Parkway to I-24 to Paducah. Then Hwy 62 over to Charleston and I-57 for a very short distance. Then Hwy 60 over to Hwy 67 just above Green Forest and Hwy 67 home.

On a motorcycle, I'd do that again to avoid I-40.

But we just completed the same trip in the RV and we just used I-40. The bike, being more maneuverable was worth the effort of the two-lanes and little towns. In the RV it was worth the aggravation to stay on the Interstate.

Safe travels to you, however you to it.

FWIW, the Western Kentucky Parkway is much nicer than I-40 if you can deal with the additional two-lane.
