Looking for best Class C RV route from Philly to Jacksonville NC.
Looking for best Class C, 32 foot RV route from Philly area to Jacksonville, NC. I know the normal way is Philly, Wilmington De, Baltimore with tunnels and tolls the into DC 495 around to Richmond finally to get a traffic break and red knuckles. I was wandering if I shoot out to 81 Harrisburg then south to 64 east then to my destination. More miles and out of the way. Less tolls, Maybe more gas . Getting some ideas here.

More mile, more gas, less traffic, nicer countryside, no tolls($$$) You also can't take your Class C through the tunnels(propane). I'd vote for I81.

I thought you can take RV through tunnels if you turn the propane off, Not that I want to go that way anyway but I guess I have to avoid the congestion. I'm making this a 2 day trip anyway so I might as well enjoy the ride. About 3/4 of the way down I will try to find that perfect road side rv campground and or boondock along the way to save money.

I don't think you can go through the Baltimore Tunnels even with the propane turned off.

I live in Harrisburg so I understand your frustration. The pa turnpike from Philly to Harrisburg is very nice and I take it when I have the opportunity. 81 would be the most relaxing ride but also the furthest. 15 to 270 is the way people from our area take south to avoid 83. Nice ride threw Gettysburg and Hagerstown. Gets contestes toward the end when it drops you in DC. Just thought I’d give you another option to consider [emoji847]

I like Slow Mo's idea. I will take PA turnpike west to 15 then south to 270 to 495 to 95 down. Some tolls, a bit of traffic at the 270 ,495, 95 transition but ok. Not too much out of my way at all. Stop North of Wilson, NC, call it a day.

You are correct you can't go through the Baltimore tunnels. Even with the propane turned off. Use I-695 beltway.

Longer mileage but traffic is less and no tolls. Get over to I-81 south and relax. DC and the traffic is terrible and you will likely get hung up in it unless you go at 2 AM or some weird time.

Get to I 81. South to I 77. Stright shot down I 77 to Columbia SC. Pick up I 26 to I 95, and stright down to Jacksonville.
Only cities you will hit is Charlotte NC which can be a bit of a pain, and Colombia SC which has a bypass.
No tolls, no tunnels.

That is only the route if you are driving a car and have masochistic tendencies. The rest of us do the I-81 bypass. I have also been over most of US-15 through there. Not bad road, shorter slower but not wall to wall trucks.
