Maine Route 1: Brunswick to Ellsworth Low Clearance Information

Rather than drive all highway on our upcoming trip to Acadia National Park, I would rather drive the coastal route along Route 1 getting off route 295 in Brunswick and traveling the rest of the way on Route 1 through Rockland and Bucksport.

Does anyone know if this route is has any low clearance issues?

I have been as far north as Belfast with no problem. It's a major truck and RV route so clearance problems would surprise me. Lets see if anyone can fill in the difference. I will be doing it later this year.

The trucks go there, so shall I.
Some folks worry too much. The rest of us look for trucks.
Best wishes

I have driven it a few times in the Corvette, but bridge clearance is the least of my concerns when driving so I never really paid any attention to clearance heights.

We're in Bucksport right now. There aren't any clearance problems from here to Bar Harbor, or for that matter Acadia. I'm sorry to inform you though, that since we arrived I've personally created a major lobster shortage.

For this and any other similar question, go to www.aitaonline.com. Select "Information", then "Low Clearance", then select the state for which you want info.

America's Independent Truckers Assn lists all known clearances 13'6" and less, by state.

Thanks for the link, I checked it out and that is an excellent resource. Have to download the mobile app as well.

And if he has come down from Acadia to Bucksport I think we overlap on driving experience.

If you are a Maine humor fan the pie is good at Moody's diner. It's in Waldboro. Interesting place. ;-)

Other than traffic, you will have no problem.

The only low bridges you'll have to worry about are the ones on the internal roads within Acadia. RT 1 has no obstacles other than summer traffic.
