I'd love to see S&T come back for that reason alone. Once updates to S&T stopped, I quit using it. Too many interchanges rebuilt, too many highways have had their routes altered for it to be accurate.
If MS could bring it back for $49, I'd buy in a New York second.

S&T will still get you there. And, local streets don't often go away. Mostly they are added. I still won't leave home without it. But, then, home is where the wheels are parked for us.

It costs to support GPS routing programs. Streets & Trips, Street Atlas USA, and RV Plan 'N' Go are among the applications that ceased because of Google Maps and the "free" cost.
I don't know how anyone can compared Google Maps to a device (PC, Android, IOS) mapping program especially when the bars drop to 0 like in the middle of Nevada. And I have seen many flaws in where Google Maps thinks things are.
I will use S&T for planning until it won't install any more. That happened to Microsoft Digital Image Suite, The second release of Windows 10 and MS DIS would no longer install. But only for planning.
The actual routes we follow are created in ALK CoPilot, a supported product because there is a major trucking software system behind it. ALK can afford to continue the road database updates.
So you would buy S&T in a blink at $49. How about $449, I don't think so.

Used CoPilot Live when I first started on the road. Was lead down many an unwanted path till I figured out how to tame the beast (some). It was too much money for the quality. Last time I tried it was a year or so a go. I was at a camp in CA. The stupid program would not let me choose a rout that would keep me out of a cow pasture and onto a 4 wheeler path. I sent the plot to ALK and they refunded my money. That's why I still use S&T for navigation. More reliable than the best of what's left. Missing roads and all.

I have been using CoPilot since 2003 on PCs and now android. We have been astray my the Garmin in the car than ever by CoPilot. But we have always used either Truck Version on the PCs or RV Version on android. So maybe a Class B highway, but never a dirt path.
We are always concerned by overhead clearances and S&T has nothing for that protection.

I never used any of the bells and whistles of S&T. We only plan one day at a time. S&T was so easy and fast to use. Didn't complicate things with all sorts of etraneous stuff. I gave up on Base Camp, just too much to learn for simple mapping.
I now use Google and RVtripwizard and plaqn ahead, printing maps etc. by a few days just in case I don't have internet.
I still have a working version of S&T and use that frequently but am trying to wean myself off of it, hard to do.

I prefer to do my trip planning off-line, and I'll continue to use S&T untill it won't load anymore. Having to be online to do trip planning means you have to have internet access - thee are STILL parts of the country where intenet access is spotty.
The problem I see with RV Trip Wizard is that they force you to pay for it to even try it out - they say they'll refund your money if you don't like it, but why not offer a free trial period instead - seems like that would be easier and cheaper that processing refunds...I've looked at their demo but it won't let you modify the settings so you can't really give it a workout.
