Mississippi Bridges Memphis

Which bridge is a better crossing in Memphis...I-40 or I-55. I'll be traveling along I-40 west to east heading to Nashville.

Stay on I40 and take the I40 bridge. The I55 bridge is very narrow and will take you out of your way.
We only take the I55 bridge when we are going to Mississippi, if we are headed East, we stay on I40.

Well it looked like I-40 would go right through down town (or Up town) and I-55 to I-240 would bypass all that...but I was concerned about the bridge more than the route itself

Lived there several years. Neither go through Memphis, that is one of only a couple interstate projects that got shutdown and wasn’t allowed to go through a city, Indian burial ground or something. I-40 crosses the bridge and goes North, actually you can go north or south, around Memphis. I-55 goes across the old bridge and turns into I-240 south around Memphis to hook up to I-40 on the east side. Either way will get you there and I wouldn’t say one is better than the other. Having said that I’d probably just stay on I-40 north around Memphis.

Use the WAZE app when you get there - or just prior to getting there. It will route/reroute you depending on traffic.

If you haven't already gone through there, watch out for the right lane ending pretty abruptly just before the bridge and again after you cross the bridge. 40 splits Left a couple times and is pretty rough until milepost (exit) 8.

Waze isn't any good for a 13' RV. So no thank you. I use Garmin 770 RV.
