We stayed there this past September in the new part. Spot right next to the pool. Very nice. View of the mountains.

Can you bicycle to town. Do they have bicycle lanes. Is it close/day trip to the 5 National Parks. Looking for convenient location as well excellent campground

Portal has two sections. Campground and resort. The resort is what you are looking for.

Picture of the view from our coach earlier this year.

Only a couple miles to Arches NP. Deadhorse Point SP and Canyonlands NP (north part of the park)are around 45 minutes or so away.
Nothing by Moab is really close to Zion, Bryce or Capital Reef NPs.
Resort is 1-2 miles north of downtown Moab and on a busy highway. Don't recall a bike lane or bikes or back way to downtown. I wouldn't bike it.

Moab has an excellent bike trail. Here is one of hundreds if you want to get off pavement.

Other than Canyonlands and Arches, Moab is too far from the other national parks for day trips. They're best experienced by staying at each one so you have more time to explore them.

^^^^^ ^^^^^

Only things I might add are a couple of Short but Sweet Road Trips from Moab - RT 128 along the Colorado River, I've driven 300 miles out of the way to make this Drive and it may be my All Time Favorite in the US.

The La Sal Mountain Loop is also well worth the effort to see - just a great contrast to the areas of Moab.

This link shows them both -

La Sal Mountain Loop Road - Take a scenic mountain drive near Moab, Utah.

A few Images, just to spike your interest -

https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&....0.s1Zrzs85Jdg

As twogypsies has said if you want to see the rest of the Utah's NP Loop, make the Loop - go to Capital Reef and stay in the - https://www.nps.gov/care/planyourvis...campground.htm

Go to Bryce - stay in Bryce - https://www.nps.gov/brca/planyourvis...campground.htm

Zion - https://www.nps.gov/zion/planyourvis...ds-in-zion.htm

Now if you have gotten this far and are still needing a few great stops - Head to the North Rim - Boondock - then over to Page - Lake Powell Wahweap Marina RV Park & Campground in AZ | Lake Powell Resorts & Marinas

Check out HorseShoe on the Colorado - Antelope Canyon - then over to Monument Valley before finishing up in Canyon de Chelly.

That's a great way to see Utah - and even a little of Arizona.

BUT............there is sooooooo much more - just think State Parks - Look them over and use them to fill in between - https://www.visitsaltlake.com/things...SAAEgLZS_D_BwE

Sorry, think I might have just gotten carried away, but Utah is such a great Place to visit, especially in the shoulder seasons or the Winter.

JMHO,

As you have given very limited info on your journey - hard to really give you much advice.

When is this plan going to take place?

How long might we have?

What is the Mission? Do you enjoy Photography? Hiking? Drive throughs? Tours?

For me, we would try to spend 5-7 days in Moab and the surrounds.

Then, probably to Goblins State Park and Capital Reef, as I only do Utah when it is cooler as is not an issue - so we do not need hook-ups, except for every now and then to dump and refill the water. (3 days)

From Capitol Reef to Bryce with the chance of Kodachrome SP - Escalante SP - https://www.myutahparks.com/things-t...ah-state-parks then I usually only need a couple days in Bryce, as I love the Rocks of Zion, nothing against the shear beauty of the Vistas of Bryce, or the hikes within the Hoo Doo's just Zion is more my style. (2-3 Days) Depending on the number of State Parks visited/explored.

Zion, we will always stay in the park - and only Visit in the Winter, as it is just too crowded in season (JMHO) Will drive back into the Box Canyon after a dinner in the Lodge and just wrap up - Stare Up - at the STARS - (Depends on the Moon as this is, for me, unbelievable.

Angels Landing if you are a real hiker, Also will suggest you take the time to head out of the park on a day trip to Kolob Canyon section of the Park - Hike back and just enjoy the serenity. (4-7 days)

Then if it's not Snowed in - North Rim is Great - on to Page, and as I suggested in the earlier post a little of Arizona.(2 days)

Hope this is of some Help.

Best of Luck,

Kodachrome Basin SP about 20 miles from Bryce is nice. Full 50 amp hookups, paved sites. Pretty scenery. But still a half hour drive to Bryce. There are several other private parks closer. Didn't stay in them but someone said the one right by the main hwy turnoff to the park was ok. 2 miles to Bryce entrance.
Zion I would go with Watchman, right inside the South entrance. 30 amp electric only. Drinking water to fill your holding tank and dump site available in the park. There is a nice RV resort right in town by the South entrance. Looked nice, but didn't drive in. Both very convenient to Zion attractions.

Yes, there is a bike path just across the highway. Also, there is enough shoulder to ride on the Highway. If you leave the park, go left on the path and you can take the path to Arches and beyond. Riding through Arches is pretty cool. Beyond Arches you can go to the road that takes you to Dead Horse SP. Good road ride. Hwy 279 is also a good out and back along the river. Hwy 128 out to Castle Valley is also good, but is a bit narrow. I have never had a problem with it.

If you are biking to town, just ride the highway shoulder into town. The bike path ends about half way into town and you then need to cross the highway and get on the shoulder anyway. Easier just to take the shoulder.

Let me know if you need more info
