Moab UT to Ouray CO - Any Update to old post?

Headed to Ouray CO from Moab. There is a 10 year old post in the forum but was wondering if anyone had any updates - are there any reasons to avoid this route.

We have a 25 foot class C (diesel) with a toad.

Google & old post suggest from Moab: US191 South to UT-46 East to CO-141 to CO-145 to CO 62 to US 550

Is this still a good route?

Your route directions gives some strange Hwy #'s and you don't go down to Montecello.

Out or Moab take 191 south to LaSal Jct. then 46 east which becomes CO90 east to Naturita, Redvale, Norwood, Placerville & 62 to Ridgeway then south on 550 to Ouray.

Do not go down to Montecello and then take 491 and north on 141. If you do you'll have a very steep descent 5 mi. north of Egnar, CO. It is 7% with a runaway truck ramp.

I use Google Maps.

I agree, this is a better route.

made the trip ... Update

We took this route today using the suggested route, it took approx. 3 hours.

There was beautiful scenery along most of the way and the road were in good shape. There were sections through the valleys that you could travel 65 mph and there were plenty of sections up and down the mountains where the hills were steep with some 20 mph hairpin turns.

Overall, the trip was good with great scenery on mostly very quiet roads (very little traffic).

Thanks again to the other 2 contributors.
