Looking for ideas on this route. Have read bad stories of I-10 so thought we would go up and across I-20 but now reading of the bad roads on that route as well. Thanks

I drove I-10 Mobile to Houston over a year ago. At that time I read all sorts of reports here about the horrible conditions, worst road in the country, damaged the coach, etc., etc. When I drove the 450 odd miles, I found about 425 of that to be fine, comfortable highway. There were four or five tough areas of a few miles each, almost all then under construction. Conclusion: seek out information, but take it all with 3-4 grains of salt.

Drove that route about a month ago and didn’t think it was all that horrible.

Thanks for the couple replies. We will stick with the I 20 plan.

I-20 section through Bossier City and Shreveport is some of the worst interstate roads I’ve ever been on. Drove it December 2017.

There's a reason Louisiana isn't known for its eggs. They call it I-10 Baton Rouge to the TX boarder.

If you want a more scenic off the interstate route consider Hwy 84 which runs from Dothan AL to Waco TX. I have driven much of the route in bits and pieces over the last few years, most of it is good, though as of last year there was a rough section between Rusk and Palestine TX.
