For future reference, just curious, what places did you stay at after Bakersfield?

From Lemon Cove, CA, I stayed in a truck stop in Cabazon, CA. The next night was in at Crazy Horse RV Park near Tucson. Then to Mission RV park near El Paso TX. The next night was to Abilene RV Park in guess where? Then to Southern Living RV Park in Greenwood LA. I then stayed at Bayberry RV Park in Mississippi. My last overnight was in Tallahassee FL in the Tallahassee RV Park.

I tried to use my Harvest Hosts but generally found that they were often full or couldn’t accommodate my rig or had requirements i didn’t want to meet. Also by the time I added up the cost of running my generator all night and the $20-$30 recommended purchase, it was close to just staying in a park with hook-ups. The night in the truck stop was fine and I may do this more often if I’m not depriving a trucker of a spot. I called ahead to make sure this was the case. I felt fine running my genny all night as most trucks were idling all night anyway. I never felt unsafe anywhere along my journey.

As I went over the Grapevine, there was little to no snow even on the side of the road. I guess the warmer temps during the 2 days of very high winds cleared it up. I’m glad I decided to wait it out.

Thanks for mentioning stops

Was truck stop in Cabazon, CA your first stop? We're leaving within the next couple weeks from Woodinville WA to Santa Rosa, FL and appreciate the thread.

Yes but I mis spoke. It was the Morengo Casino that I overnighted in. I also filled my tank there at a nice discount from California gas prices.

I hope the weather improves for you. Right now the route I took is dangerous travel due to the weather, especially through Texas.

The weather app Ventusky was recommended to me and I found it very helpful. It gives not only temperature predictions by hour but also precipitation, wind speed, radar, and wind gusts among other info. It provides good information for only $2.99.
