Nashville(I-24) to I-75 Southbound

Any suggestions on how to bypass Chattanooga? Coming from Michigan via I-65 to Nashville and picking up I-24. Have always gone around Chattanooga to I-75 but would like to avoid that route if possible? Any suggestions?...Bob

Our son lives in Chattanooga and I hate I-24 through there, but I don’t now any easy way around it if you’re taking I-75. Like I said I dislike Chattanooga almost as much as Atlanta.
Of course you can stay on I-65 through Birmingham and Montgomery then take 231 down to I-10, but out of the way unless you’re going west.

LOL.... Try going thru Choo Choo & Hot 'Lanta with a 28' wide load of aircraft wings bound for SC....
GA. State wide Travel restrictions of no movement before 9am and no movement after 3 pm..... Gotta go "Gitty Up" a bunch.

I too really dislike I24 around Chattanooga. One would think, after all these years, that the drivers there would know about the hills and sharpe curves - but nooooooo - they insist on speeding and, eventually, wrecking. And one would think TN might widen that road a bit - but, again, nooooo.

Anyhow. Try this....
I-65 To Birmingham
US280 from Birmingham all the way to Tifton, GA.
Then back to I-75

We drive to/from Columbus from the Fl east coast a lot. US280 between Columbus and Tifton is mostly 4 lane divided, just adhere to the speed limits, every small town seems to have a local cop just looking for speeders.

We've also driven US280 between Columbus and Birmingham a few times. Easy road.

oh - Monteagle, TN - big downhill on I-24 from North to South. Use a low gear.
