We will be traveling the Natchez Trace from Natchez to Nashville in early June.

Any suggestions about places to stay or things to do or see will be appreciated.

We are particularly interested in outdoor activities such as bicycling trails/hiking trails or canoeing.

Thanks.

AGKCPA: The trace is a beautiful, tranquil drive albeit a little slow for my taste. I have not been on it since the newly opened section through Jackson, Ms. has been completed. Have you been to it's website?

I wanted to reply to your question with a campground suggestion. IF your travel schedule allows, stay in Tishomingo State Park, right off the Trace, above Tupelo and south of US rte 72. It has a beautiful big lake and paved access roads for cycling. I'm sure therre are other goods parks as well, some are pretty rustic and vegatation can be heavy. Enjoy your trip! ED

I'm interested if the parkway is adequate highway for a motorhome. We are headed east and are going to pick up Natchez Trace out of Jackson MI and take to Tupelo. Then over to Memphis then pick it up again in Alabama and take it to Nashville. Any advice or helpful information will be appreciated. Happy Trails!

We drove it in March with the truck and 5th wheel.....very pleasant but slow going so we switched to a main road....I would guesstimate our avg speed to be about 40 at best so it was very relaxing. As well we stopped at a few of the attractions (historical interest sites) along the way. We drove it from Natchez to North of Jackson (about 40 miles N I think)and the part thru Jackson was not open at that time. The fuel price on the Trace was better than it was in Natchez.....go figure!

we drove it in April this year, its slow and picturesque, lots of areas to stop off to sightsee or relax and have a snack..Tupelo was nice, we stayed in a private park just south of tupelo..and then went over to David Crockett SP for a few days..well worth the slow pace for a few days, if only to get off the freeway races..
