NC to Elkhart

I need to get some service done on my coach so headed to Elkhart in mid to late June. Starting point is Sanford, NC. This will be the first trip where I take on some "mountains" and while I'm a bit intimidated I think I can handle grades and such by taking it easy. Still, the less the better for this newbie. Trip Wizard takes me up around Greensboro thru West Virginia and on to Ohio via 35 to Dayton and then 75 north to 30. The rest seems straight forward. Campgrounds seem plentiful but not many close to the highway in some areas. No real time pressure other than making the appointment so I can start early as necessary. Route and campground suggestions? Going I plan one nighters but I can linger on the return.

You can also pick up I-64 in Charleston WV and run it west to I-75 north in Lexington Ky. You then stay on 75 thru Cincinnati up to 30 then head west on 30.
As far campgrounds in Georgetown Ky there is Whispering Hills, or in Lexington you can try The Kentucky Horse Park campground.

Thanks, Hamm! I am eyeing that route. I would still pull a lot of hills in WV but can't really escape that I guess. Same as if I just headed west on 40 to pick up a northbound I. I appreciate the campground suggestions.

That's a 1,400 mile round trip.

I'm curious why you don't find some place closer to do the service work.

I don't disagree on the distance but I need to go to Equalizer Systems in Elkhart for a new jack system and thought I'd double up with JC Refrigeration for an Amish conversion to compressor on the fridge. If I could get the jacks installed closer I certainly would. And Kevin Mallory in Celina, OH isn't far off the route so some of his magic would be in order if I can schedule all of these just right.

JC Refrigeration is that the one in Shipshewana? If it is, it is north of OPEN RANGE factory on the left side of the road.

There is a KOA on I-75 at Wapakoneta, then take a hour and see Neil Armstrong Museum. Here is it's address: 500 Apollo Dr, Wapakoneta, OH 45895

It is small but nice.

Heck, I might just take I 40 west and pick up I 75. Will look at it.

I did a 1,200 mile round trip just to buy a toad and have the hitch installed by an excellent installer in Yuma.

So I understand going a long ways to get something you want done correctly.

Yep! I bought the coach to travel, no to sit and stay parked.

Also, if you are a FMCA member, they have a free campground at their headquarters in Cincinnati.

We've driven I-75 from Cincinnati to Florida and back and Jellico Mountain is almost a non-event. It's like 2,000 feet above sea level and is only supposed to be a problem in snowy/icy weather.

Google Maps gives I74/I77/35/23 into Columbus, OH then 30 to Ft. Wayne, IN then 33 to Elkhart for 684 miles.

I-40/I-75/I-74 to Indianapolis then north on 31 to Elkhart is 846 miles.
