New Member with questions about route 66

My wife and I purchased a 2002 National class A three years ago. We are both in our 70ís and still are not sure why we. Did this.
Live in NEPA, so we do not use it during the winter. Have made a few trips to Cape May NJ , as well as Florida and the Keys. Went to Ohio two years ago. This year we hope to travel to Chicago and then take Route 66 to California. Any advice about Route 66 would be appreciated.

That sounds good - I like the idea too, but from LA east. Itís just an idea for a trip thatís a little different. Iím concerned that I might lose patience with it but I really like the idea of traveling the whole thing end to end, even if it means fighting traffic into LA to start, and then extricating myself from Chicago at the end. And we both pine away for the days of paper maps. So....

Thanks for the tip!

Not all of the original Route 66 exists. Many parts are gone, covered over when I-40 was built. New Mexico and Arizona have some good long stretches, but even so, in some places it's just an access road along I-40, and doesnít go through continuously.
