Newfound Gap (441) from Cherokee to Gatlinburg

Anyone ran it recently in a tall class a? I’m curious how many tree limbs bounced off your coach. May cut through there early next week. Not worried about the grade or curves, but really don’t want to be taking out my ac’s, lol.

There are curves sharp enough you will have to stop traffic and take up both lanes. As busy as that road is, that will be a very slow drive. I'd estimate about 6-8 hrs with no place to stop between towns. That is if you are allowed through the NP entrance gate.
Yes there are many low-hanging limbs on both sides of the mountain.

6 to 8 hours?? it’s a 30 mile trip, that takes an hour and a half on a slow day. And there’s multiple pull offs and scenic overlooks along the way. I’ve never seen anyone denied entry to the park. Thousands of RVs go through there every year.

It took 49 minutes to go from the Cherokee side visitor center to Sugarland visitor center on the gatlinburg side. I let a single car pass on the way up, and a group of 3 on the way down. Never left my lane, and had no issues whatsoever until we made it to the bottom. Then my gps had me turn onto Little River Gorge Rd….. that is a road you DO NOT want to go down, lol. We had a mama bear and 2 cubs decide to slide down an embankment in front of us, and I barely got it stopped in the rain. Then it decided to route me down a side road that I had enough sense not to take. Then it was another 6 or 8 miles of some sure enough white knuckle driving. Finally made it to Honeysuckle Meadows where we’ll be for a few days.
