Newport, OR to Portland

We will be leaving Newport and heading up to Portland. Looking at my options 1) head back over to Corvallis (came in that way) and pick up I-5 east of Corvallis or 2) drive up 101 to Lincoln City and take a similar road over to I-5. Would seem only advantage would be to see a bit more of 101 before we leave the coast.

Any suggestions/recommendations would be appreciated.

101 north to Lincoln City then Or18 then Or99 is much more scenic. If not in a hurry it is far more beautiful. Corvallis has some nice restaurants for lunch though. Lincoln City has Chinook Winds then on Or18 you have Spirit Mountain Casino. Spirit Mountain has pritty good free RV parking. Good luck on the decision. If you have not done the 101 to Lincoln City route...it's the one you want to take.

101 north. Stunning view of the coast. Great seafood etc. don't do it on the weekend. Sunday afternoons from the coast tons of traffic.
