NJ to California starts this Wednesday
Cross country trip #2 for 2010 starts this Wednesday. Here is the alleged itinerary:
1. Wednesday AM meeting in King of Prussia, PA
2. Drive out to Mesa Verde arriving July 4.
3. Spend a few days in Zion and meet friends who are renting a MH in Vegas.
4. Meeting in Thousand Oaks, CA
5. Meeting in South San Fran
6. Drive to Yosemite and spend a week visiting my son who is working at the Ahwanhee Hotel for the summer
7. Drive home quickly as youngest son is going to the Boy Scout 100th Anniversary Jamboree back in Ft. AP Hill in Virginia
A good mix of business and pleasure!

Do you have all your rv parks planned? Just an fyi, there's a county park in Simi Valley that would be a good location for your Thousand Oaks meeting. It's Tapo Canyon Park off the 118 at Tapo Canyon. It's about 3 mi north of the 118 and in a quiet canyon (looks like you are going to nowhere, keep going it's there!). Ventura County spent almost a million $ putting in 16 full hookup long sites at this park. I was a park host there, nice & peaceful. Safe travels to ya

Jan and Tom,
Thanks for the direction on the campground. However my dealings with them today did not go well.
I tried the web to make a reservation but you can only make them two weeks in advance. The county offices were closed as it is Saturday so I found a number on the internet for the park ranger. Called and politiely asked him if there were sites open so I would not get there and have the place all sold out.
When I asked the ranger if he knew if there were sites open on Sunday and Monday nights, he blew a gasket and went on this tirade. I let him blow his top and said thank you and hung up. No sense reasoning with that moron.
Needless to say, we decided to stay at another campground in Van Nuys instead. That guy was a nut.

Back safe and sound in NJ after about 6,288 miles.
Other than Kansas, trip was a dream. In Kansas, we:
1. found a broken exhaust clamp but we were across from a Freightliner dealer so son and I fixed for $11 in about 10 minutes
2. Then the rear camera died. Took dash apart, reseated the plugs and it worked. 30 minutes
3. Wind kicked up so bad that it unrolled my slide out awning WHILE I was driving on I-70. Another MH had the same problem. Son and I had to crawl on the roof, roll it up by hand, and duct tape the ends to keep it from unrolling.
