North Alabama to Tucson Arizon
We have not traveled West with the rv, but plan a trip in February and would like to find a route that would be somewhat stress free. Any suggestions? We plan to take our time, and hopefully do some sightseeing along the way.

Roll Tide! I recommend the 10. The 40 has more to see and lots more traffic, potholes, construction and occasionally snow.

But watch the time of day you pass by DFW and El Paso. You don't want rush hour.

...and west Texas along I-10 can be a lonely road. I have driven early morning for 45 minutes without seeing another vehicle moving in either direction. Have plenty of fuel - some stations closed at night, and it can be a long distance between them.
Watch the weather reports. One one trip, I was the only vehicle on the road driving through six inches of untracked snow at fifteen miles per hour for a solid hour until I reached rain again. I had to keep bouncing off the rumble strips to stay on pavement. I was afraid to stop!

I found 40 to be a very easy drive last summer, but snow is certainly possible this time of year.
Fun places to stop either for a few hours or overnight.

Feb is a very busy time in Tucson. We have wintered here for 6 years. The rv parks are pretty full by feb. If you have not planned ahead for a place to stay you may want to concider it. The park we stay in every year is already filling up fast.

I recommend I-20 to I-10 (West of Pecos , Tx) I-10 to EL Paso, to Loop 375 North to miss the traffic in El Paso. The Loop will take you back to I-10 West of El Paso. Then I-10 to Tucson.
I-20 Will take you along the South of Dallas it's best to plan a midday drive thru Dallas and Fort Worth.
We made a trip to Phoenix in Nov.

Thanks for the tips! Need to see what and where to stop along the way. Already have reservations for the rally we are attending, so thats not a problem. Just want to take our time and enjoy the trip.

This year we went from Canton GA which is in north GA across AL, MS, to Little Rock on back roads then south to Dallas. We had a commitment in north Dallas. Then dropped down to I20 which connects to I10 then into Tucson. We usually go south right away to hook up with 20 outside of Atlanta or close to Montgomery. Stayed in Iuka this MS and Little Rock, Dallas, Midland, TX, Las Cruces,NM then Tucson. Was a good trip. We tried to bypass Dallas by going around the north but that was a mistake. Should have just dropped down to I20 on one of the toll roads but live and learn!!
