North to Coyote RV Resort in San Jose

I will be traveling from Pala CA (near San Diego), north to Coyote Valley RV Resort, on Monterey Rd. In San Jose. I am driving a 32 ft MH towing a Jeep Wrangler.
.
Would you suggest taking I-5 N all the way then onto 101? Or would you take 101 all the way up north?
.
Nervous about it! Thanks!

101 is the way to go, lots of scenery and once you're past Santa Barbara it's smooth sailing. I-5 on the other hand is very boring. I suppose if you saw the movie or read The Onion Field then I-5 is OK. You'll make better time on I-5 but the view literally sucks.

Highway 1 is the nervous road and last I heard it was blocked by a huge land slide in the Big Sur area.

FYI, I've traveled north with my rig, towing a car on 101 many, many, times and it's a piece of cake.

One word of caution, Coyote can only be entered and exited going north on Monterey Highway, not a big deal, just a little inconvenient.

Given that you are northbound from Pala, I would travel:

North on 15, then
West on 91, then
North on 71, then
West on 210, then
west on 134 toward Ventura, then
North on 101

This gives you a great deal of coastal travel, plus access to some great wineries. It takes you out of the more densely congested area of LA.
