I have tried to stop at several places that ADVERTISE RV friendly. But sometimes you get there and there are no "RV Lanes" for the gas. And their pumps are not parallel to the highway making it is extremely difficult to get in/out with the toad.

I am a Flying J fan but they are not everywhere. What are your favorite fuel stops that you can really depend on as being RV friendly?

I use Flying J mostly, and usually have no problem getting to one on a tank.

Last year when Murphy's had a 10¢ discount with a Walmart gift Card.
I had no problem filling up at them. With my MH and toad.

I use Diesel and those pumps were always on the outside island.
I fueled up in 5 different ones in FL, GA, IN, and IL. 6 times.

When I can't find a FlyingJ, I look for Loves. Loves has a frequent fueler program, at least for diesel not sure about gas.

I usually use flying j also but will settle for loves or pilot

We usually stop at Flying J (now Flying J - Pilot), and appreciate the discount and ability to get cash price with a credit card. However, these stations are not always RV friendly. A few FJ or Pilot stations are old and have no RV islands. Also, some with RV Islands, like in Walton, KY, south of Cincinnati, have parking spaces that restrict exit from the RV lanes; especially if you have a big rig. The newer FJ stations are really nice and have propane and dump access integral with the islands, but some have the propane station on the driver side and will not fill if the hose must reach the opposite side. This means you must enter the RV island against the regular traffic flow to access the propane station; which can be impossible if there is a lineup waiting for fuel.

Our TREK is only 29 ft. long and, even when towing our trailer, I can some times access the regular car pumps. However, I always determine an exit route before getting into any restricted pump location.

I usually use Loves or TA, I have cut down my use of Flying J/Pilot after spending some time on TTR forum and truckers voted Flying J/Pilot as giving the worst fuel mileage. Most called it Flying Water.

We run the I-75 corridor Mi to Fl twice a year. We use Pilot/Flying J exclusively and are in their discount program. We also stay in them overnight while enroute.

Although haven't been in all 100+ along the route, never been in one with our 50ft setup that was any problem getting in or out of the car lanes.

We use their app to check out the facilities at the individual stations (number of parking spots, restaurant, dump, propane, RV lanes, ect) depending on our needs. Never a bad experience and it's always nice to know where you're going and what's there when you arrive.

Right. Thats why I always look for and actually plan all of our gas stops around FJ. And the Frequent Fueler discount is nice too. Not only that, I have never been disappointing with the facilities at FJ.

And thats what I am trying to find out. Are there others that you can always trust to be RV Friendly? Example..T/A Travel Plaza in Baldwin Florida on I-10. Kept seeing the signs and when I got there, I couldn't even get the RV/Toad into the gas pump area as it was a dead end in the front door of the convenience store! I finally did a u-turn and found a local station that had the pumps parallel to the street.

Are all Love's really RV Friendly?

I'v been doing a little more looking at some of the Loves and T/A's along our planned route to southwest TX. Looks like most of the Loves and the T/A's I see are not RV friendly. I guess I'll depend on Flying J then look for any place I can get in / out with they are not available.

From what I have found ONLY Flying-J has dedicated re-fuel lanes for RV's.
They also (Usually) have dedicated RV parking (Even if they do not enforce it and I often find semi-s bob-tail or other commercial vehicles there, even cars).

I look for a gas/fuel station where I can get in and out easily enough. It may be a Shell, Marathon, Kroger (or other food store) Murphy USA, Pilot, Loves, Citgo or ______.

The key is the ability to get to the pump and out without fancy driving.

Murphy USA currently has a deal,, Go into the Wal-mart, put some cash onto a gift card, and stick the card in the pump, Watch the price go down 10¢ per gallon.

Good till Christmas, then it goes down to 3 cents again.

Some other stores have simular deals, CITGO being one of them, At Citgo you can go into the station, load up your gift card and stick it in the pump and watch the price go down.. One stop re-fueling.

Chuck, I see you are from NC. Quick Trip (QT) is a company making itself know in SC and NC lately. The new QT at exit 21 on I-85 in SC is state of the art as far as RV's go. Dedicated RV lanes that take credit cards and you can pump $100 at least twice w/o a problem - maybe more but I have not put more than two hundred in. Room to overnite if you need/want to.

They also have a QT truck stop at 85 and US i29 on Georgia at the Jefferson/Gainesville exit. I have not bought RV diesel from there, but they have a nice setup there also.

hey Doc.. thanks for reminding about QT. They have started building them around this area and they are nice, but I have not seen one with RV lanes. Since their HQ is the mid west, maybe there are more of those on I-20.

My concern with FJ is a post in another part of this site that reported FJ charging RVer $4.20/gal diesel; truk driver at the next register inquires, provides "truck number" whatever that is and gets $3.89. I read another thread that talks to FJ rewards card through VISA being a real problem as you have to provide your banking info. Just IMHO, need to read at least two other threads on FJ and the other service stations on the interstate.

Everything you read on here is not gospel, even this. I use the FJ discount and had no problem giving them a CC number or my checking account info. I've used them for a year and charge all my gas to them. I get the bill a month or so later and just pay it, never a problem. I read the same thread as you, as I read it, truckers pay a certain amount of road use tax ahead of time. They are not charged some or all if they have a certain (DOT?) number. If you fuel at a truck lane with an RV, you pay the advertised price which includes taxes. Just a guess on my part, diesel users and retired truckers can explain better than I. All I can say for sure is I have a gas rig and I'm very happy with P/FJ.
