We are heading down I-81 next week. We usually go down I-84 to PA route 209 to I-80 to I-81. My wife talked to AAA and was told staying on I-84 to I-81 is the better route.

What do you think? Which route is faster?

Hey TJinNH,

I just looked at the atlas, and I agree with AAA take 84 to 81. I also would have to think it would be the fastest route since you are on 2 interstates. After all from the parts of 209 I have been on it is one lane each way going through towns with traffic lights and lower speed limit. Enjoy the trip no matter what route you end up taken!

Hey TJ,
We ususally go 84 to 81 if we are heading south. 84 is good because it doesn't have too much traffic. It depends if you want the fastest route, the shortest route or sometimes stay on 4 lane access highways.

We just came up 84 from 81 and it has gotten so rough that we won't use it again. We used it instead of I/78 which is very rough but next trip we will try 78 again or maybe try 80. I/84 is terrible!
