Palm Desert to Death Valley 40’ Motorhome, Best Route

Hi all!
We are traveling from Palm Desert to Death Valley (Furnace Creek area) near the end of March and had heard that some of the roads might be a bit difficult for our 2005 40’ Diesel Pusher (slightly underpowered). Is there a good/easy route there? I am not a newbie, having owned this MH over 3 years and 30,000+ miles, but as always we want to be smart about routing!
Thanks
Dave

I worked in DV for two summers way back when,
Had an old VW bus (why did I sell?)
and it was a long way in or out of DV.
With a 40+ft MH, the only legal way is from the south. Hiway 190 from Bishop is a good road, but long steep grades, 7,000+ ft passes and sharp curves were OK in the Mircrobus but not ok in the MH. Beautiful, spectacular, even!

I would take the 10 west to the 15 then 15 to Baker then into Death Valley from there.

I would agree with the 10 to the 15 to Baker then to DV is by far the best route.

Agree on 15 but take 10 to 215 to the 15. Misses the 10 to 15 cluster

You can also take the 10 to the 210 to the 215 to the 15. Avoids the cluster at the 10/215. Less car traffic, but enough truck traffic to keep your speed constant.

Forgot that 210 connects before 215. Good call

ALL freeways in California will beat you to death. Some just do it slower than others. [emoji6]

Do you live in Palm Desert or just being in the area at that time? I have another route in mind if you like a more scenic drive.

Will have been there for a month or so, but not from the area.

While down in this area, if you have a toad you need to go up to the high desert and go to Joshua Tree N.P. If you do let me know of what you think of the two grades on highway 62.
