Palm Springs quick overnight spot ?

I am taking a trip to the Ca. coast and am looking for a overnight spot on the way. Palm Springs is about my half way point, and would make a good stopping place for the first night from phoenix.

I can see several casinos in Palm Springs and they seem to all have overnight RV parking lots.

Any recommendations ?
Thanks
Bruce

We have spent the last 4 winters in the area. I have not stayed at any but have driven around to see them.

My first choice would be Spotlight 29 Casino. Also a very popular cacino is Fantasy Springs. Both dry camping & free.

There is also a very nice Walmart with a very large and open parking lot. All three of these places are in Indio.

If you are on the I-10 the most convenient would be the Morongo Casino at Cabazon. There is a large RV lot up behind the truck parking area behind the bowling building. I have stayed there when passing through. It's free and the shuttle comes around if you need to go to the Casino. There is nothing much close enough for an easy walk.
The other casinos are south in Indio which work OK if you are coming up 62 from I-8. I have not stayed at those but I did see quite a few RV's when driving past.

Stayed here for the weekend while back, not a bad place, met a lot of nice people. It is in La Quinta next to Palm Springs. A lot of snow birds in Palm springs now so call for reservations if you are interested

Yup just an over night stop, looks like spotlight will fit the bill.
Thanks for all the replies.

You should tank up as much as you can in AZ. Those CA fuel tariffs are sky high.

Mine was more than a buck a gallon between CA and AZ

Agreed.. But I'm only talking about 35 gallons at palm springs. So it would be like 20 at the border. Didn't seem like it would be worth it

I have spent a night at a Casino in Indio, but I do not recall the name.

The RV area is all dirt so the front part is dusty with trucks coming in late, so pick a spot as far back as you can.

We had a nice steak dinner at the casino.

Spotlight 29 would be your best bet. As for fuel prices I'd fill in Quartzsite as it's a $1.00 a gallon cheaper than out here. Diesel is $3.81 a gallon at the TA truck stop next to Spotlight 29. I drive by it to & from work. Love's truck stop just up the road is $3.74 cash.
I fulled in Quartzsite last weekend for $2.72. That was $300.00 worth of diesel. Mine did take just over 109 gallons. So a $1.00 a gallon cheaper makes a big difference. :lthumb:

But for 20 gallons it's just not worth the hassle of getting off the freeway.. And I would be 15 to 20 into my full tank when I stopped.. There is no way I can avoid fueling in California for this trip.
It is what it is..

You must have a much smaller fuel tank than I do. I don't need to look for fuel until I have driven 650-700 miles. That puts me way out of California before I need fuel.
Were is your final destination in California?
