Would like a good route from Pigeon Forge down to Montgomery, AL staying off the interstate highways and avoiding Chattanooga, Atlanta and Birmingham. Will be in the rig w/toad. Appreciate an suggestions. Also going to need a good campground with full hookups about half way. This is for the latter part of June.

Try Goodsam.com trip planner selecting no interstates for some ideas.

You could follow US 321 from Pigeon Forge to Maryville TN. US 411 from Maryville TN to near Gadsden AL where it crosses US 231. and take that south to Mountgomery

How is 321 from Pigeon Forge to Maryville? Is it an OK drive in a motorhome?

Most of it would be 4 lane. It's 2 lane till Townsend. The only realy bad part would be just as you come into Townsend, it's not that bad there, but you will want to pay attention (couple of sharp curves). We use 321 to go to the south end of GSMNP and it 4 lane almost all the way to I-75 411 would be mostly 4 lane down to Benton TN. It was it 2 lane from there to Chatsworth GA last year. I can't help you much south of that.
While past halfway Noccalula Falls Campground in Gadsden AL has full hookup WES & cable

George, thanks. Going down that route, Gadsden would be about the distance we like to travel in a day. Should be nice and scenic.

There is another RV park in Gadsden. It is called River Country and it is very nice. We have stayed at both Noccalula and River Country and we like River Country better. My Wife has relatives in Gadsden and we have been there many times.

WA4SLC,
Thanks for the information. I have Alabama relatives also, but for most part, we can keep it hid - until the wife opens her mouth. She's from the thriving metropolis of Prattville, and don't ever let her know I told!
I was K4BON back in my youth. My uncle still has the W4WGV tag on his car.
