Pismo Beach to Harris Ranch

What is the least stressful route with a class A and toad from Pismo Beach to Harris ranch?
We've taken highway 46 to Lost Hills in the past but it sure is a long way out of the way to get to Coalinga.

How bad is highway 41?

We were considering taking 101/1 to Morro Bay to avoid the long up hill on 101 going north then 41 to 46. The big question is when 46 goes south to Lost Hills how bad is 41 into Kettleman City.
Thanks in advance for your advice

thanks very much

it's been 24 years since I've been on Highway 41 from the coast ot I-5. I used it pull a boat from Fresno to Morro Bay but now I'm in a 40' CC pulling a Jeep.
I remember 41 being narrow and twisty. My wife is wanting to use 46 to Lost Hills then I-5 to Harris Ranch. I hate the added time through a lot of nothing to see.
Has 41 been improved in the last 20 years??

The CalTrans map is marked to prohibit motorhomes over 40' on CA41 from Shandon to Atascadero for good reason. I used it once with a 40 footer and wished I had not. That was about 7 years ago but I doubt there has been any improvement.

By the way, the CHP does enforce length restrictions as per the CalTrans map. They also actively enforce speed limits on CA46.

Take 101 to Paso Robles, then 46E to 41 to I5. I take 41 often and it’s a good road.

I'm in a 40' CC pusher towing a jeep. I rememnber from years ago that 41 is narrow and twisty with places with no shoulder.
25 years ago I used to tow a boat from Fresno to Morro Bay but that road scared my wife so we started leaving the boat in Morro Bay.

I know that taking 46 is very long boring and uses lots of fuel and time. But its not as stressful as 41.

I was hoping that CALTRANS had made improvements on 41 in 20+ years.

41 is twisty and length restricted from Morro bay to Shandon. Just follow exgmans route, easy cruise all the way. 46 is now 4 lane divided most of the way to the 41 intersection.
