Planning first East Coast RV trip, ideas wanted
Planning our first RV trip (May-Sept) up the east coast from the Keys to Nova Scotia. Any tips, ideas, places we should see? So far we are planning to see Savannah, Charleston, the Outer Banks, Chincoteague/Assateague, PA Dutch country, Cape Cod, Coastal Maine, PEI, Cape Breton. Not interested this time in any large cities like DC, NYC, etc. Thanks!

I have always thought that running up through the middle of New Hampshire would be nice to do. I grew up in the southern end of it. Everything is quaint.

You might add the Kennedy Space Center, St Augustine, Myrtle Beach, Newport RI.
When in Nova Scotia, be sure to visit the Alexander Graham Bell museum in Baddeck and the Fortress Of Louisbourg.

Huntington Beach state park near Muriel's Inlet sc is a nice place to stay. Across the street from Brookgreen gardens is a good place to spend a day. Close to good seafood and golf.

Fredericksburg, Richmond and Williamsburg Virginia have a lot to see. A lot of history in the area.

Gettysburg. Spend several days. It's stunning for its beauty and staggering for its historical significance. I spend three days there walking the battlefields, but there are a number of ways to see the site. The Eisenhower museum is in town as well and worth a visit.

PA Dutch country. Lancaster County. The Amish and Menonites.
Lived there for 25 years.
If you google "PA Dutch Country" you will get plenty. But, here is the best:
Shady Maple Market, and Shady Maple Smorgasbord. The finest in the land. Settle for no other.
And please let us know how you loved it.

I am in love with northern New Hampshire. Mt Washington state park, the cog train to the summit, truly a beautiful place. I'm there almost every year.

Delaware Water Gap right on I-80 at the PA/NJ border. You will not believe you're in NJ!

Agree, Gettysburg a must see. In PA, we visited Quakerstown and visited many covered bridges in Bucks County. Visited Pearl S. Buck house. In NY, the West Point museum. Bar Harbor, ME and Acadia Natl Park. We drove to the top of Cadillac Mountain and watched the sunrise which is the first place in the US one can view as the sun rises. The Cape Cod area is beautiful. We enjoyed Ptown and the JFK museum in Hyannis. We stayed at the Bar Harbor campground. Reasonable prices and were there late Jul early Aug. A must for dining is the Eagles Nest outside of Bangor, ME. Lobster rolls were awesome.

I guess it matters what your interests are: shopping (Brimfield, MA in July), gambling (Foxwoods/Mohegan Sun, CT), sports (Yankees, Bosox, Orioles), history (Williamsburg, Jamestown, Sturbridge Village, Plimouth Plantation, Monticello).

It's a little to the west of your trip, but if you have the time, the Finger Lakes region of upstate NY is gorgeous, literally. The Gorge at Watkins Glen is spectacular, and if you like wine, there are dozens of wineries to visit. Two good places to stay, at the State park above the Glen or at Clute Park at the bottom of town.

Edisto Island S.C. has a nice state park we like. The Island is quire laid back - no real tourist attractions other than the beach. Reservations recommended - on weekends it fills up.
Asseteague Island is on the Maryland/Va East cost border - wild ponies. National Park didn't have electric last time we were there - Maryland State park had full hook-ups.
