Planning Route Tenton Valley to Rock Springs

Planning my route, would like to avoid the Tenton Valley Pass. What is the route like via 31 to 26 to 89 going south bound. Then I'll head east bound on 30 to 80. Has anyone run this route before? Or is there a better way?

Important! You mean Teton Valley.

The route you suggest is fine. There is a pass on 31 but it’s lower and the grade less. After you get to Swan Valley it’s all easy going. It will take an hour longer.

Because of the expensive living costs in Jackson a large number of workers in Jackson live in Teton Valley. A few time each winter Teton Pass will be closed due to weather and so all the workers take this route to Alpine and the back up into Jackson. So it’s a common route.

We lived in Jackson for 5-yrs. The nearest big town was Idaho Falls. So we drove over the Teton Pass and took 31 regularly to get to IF for shopping and the airport.

We had a Travel Trailer back then and drove it on all these roads, including Teton Pass, many times and had no problems with any of them.

I think you meant Teton Valley and Teton Pass not Tenton

The Wyoming highway department suggest you take the you route that you mentioned...from Victor, ID on ID 31 to US26 follow US26 to US89 and US89 to US191 into Rock Springs.

I've driven all those roads at one time or another and I don't have any memory of there being any particular issues. Of course current road conditions must be taken into account.

If you're coming from ID20 you can take 32 or 33 to Victor then 31 to 26 to Alpine, WY then south on either 89 to 30 to I-80

... or from Alpine take 26/89 east to Hoback Junction then southeast on 191 to I-80 at Rock Springs.

If you happen to go to Teton Nat'l Park and leave from there you can take 26/287 to Dubois and on to Rawlins.

All are good roads with any size RV.
