Ridgeway to Durango
37 foot gas class A pulling a jeep liberty. Everything I see seems to say I should take the West route, via Telluride, Dolores. I plan on staying in Durango a few days, and may do the route to Silverton and back in the jeep, plus a few trails. Just want to use the safest, easiest route for the motorhome and jeep.
Thanks

We've driven both routes with our 40' towing the Liberty. Love them both!!
While you're in Ridgeway why not drive to Silverton to see how you feel about 550. To some, that's the worse part. From Silverton to Durango is much easier if you're not used to mountain driving.

Ridgway State Park - Ouray on the River - Mesa Verde NP - Silverton - Lake City - all call you to Visit - If I were you I'd think about setting aside a Lot more time in the Area.
Way too much to see and do in just a couple days in Durango (Not to belittle Durango, but IMHO it ranks low on the Great Spots to stay in the Area,
Read through this Post - Rock and Roll - has a lot to add to your trip - http://www.irv2.com/forums/f42/monti...-425074-2.html - filled with adventure in the San Juan's
My suggestion is to get to Ouray and explore in the Jeep you will quickly know if the 550 is for You......
Whatever you do it Will likely just be a Tease and you will need to Plan to Return. Just too much to see and do in one trip.
Best of Luck,
