12 is kind of like the million dollar highway, people either love or hate it.
it is a very beautiful drive with one section that follows the top of a ridge for about a 1/4 mile called the hogsback, that and a short fairly steep down hill and up hill. the road way is not narrow just no guard rails on the hogsback section.take your time and enjoy this beautiful drive all the way to Torrey.
i for one go out of my way to take this highway.

One of my favorite drives to date, even in my 45' DP.

I always loved this road, and took a wide assortment of different RV's on it over the years. Never realized it was considered an issue until internet forums came along. It's highly traveled, Semi Trucks, Motorcycles, and a whole lot of RV's to include more rentals than you can imagine. As long as you're not so busy taking in the scenery that you forget to drive and wander off the road. Some fantastically beautiful areas well worth exploring.

Plenty of positive comments here about this. We drove it in our toad (camped at Bryce, but taking a day trip to Capitol Reef), but right ahead of us was a Tiffany AlegroBus. The driver handled the road magnificently. If you are comfortable driving in the hills, you will enjoy the ride. I certainly WOULD go out of my way to drive this road the next time we are in the area.

So much to see just never enough TIME.

You may want to buy a copy of Mountain Directory West, published by R&R Publishing in Baldwin City KS. It covers part of your route and lists 5 serious grades on UT 12 ranging from 8-12%. MDW is a grade source I use anytime I'm curious about highways in the west.

We also loved driving Hwy 12 with our 40' motorhome. No issues for us.
