Route Boise to Missoula

Anyone have any experience driving highway 95 to highway 12 from Boise to Missoula in a large RV? I have a 44’ diesel pusher with a tow car. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Google maps suggests ID 55 to New Meadows, then US 95 to US 12. 365 miles. Your route, I-84 to US 95 to US 12 is 393 miles. ID 55 is a bit more scenic, but some curves in the road.

Highways 55, 95, and 12 are all good roads. I don't remember any driving challenges on Highway 55. I do remember that the northern part of 55 was very scenic. There is a big hill on 95 going into Grangerville. On the other side of Grangerville, you go back down the hill on highway 13. Highway 12 is fabulous. Nearly 100 miles of river road and twisties. Lolo Pass is on the east end but it isn't a bad pass.

This motorcycle movie shows a trip from US 12, up 13 towards Grangerville.

This picture is on US 12.

You shouldn't have any problems. We did that route last year in our class A towing a car. It was a pleasant, scenic ride. A nice change from using the interstates. And I do tend to go out of my way to avoid going through Salt Lake City (some bad experiences with their over abundance of road work and aggressive drivers) when we trek north from AZ.

Have a nice, relaxing drive.
