Route planning in California

If you are traveling in California, Caltrans has a new website that could be useful for route planning: Caltrans - Quickmap. It covers the entire state, and you can set it to show general traffic, lane closures/construction, CHP incidents, message signs and traffic cams. It might take some of the "adventure" out of a trip, but I like knowing about lane closings and major construction with enough advance notice to plan alternate routes.

Thanks for the post...I have always checked the CALTRANS SIGALERT site.

Do you think this is reliable and is it up dated regularly?

I don't know how often they update the information, but it has changed throughout the day, and the traffic cams are current.
