RV 770 not recognizing 12V power cable

On my way back home with the new Newmar, I noticed my display was dim. Went into settings to brighten it, only to be told by the GPS that 40% was the limit unless I used the cable provided by Garmin......

...which I was using.

Anyone else have this issue?

I have an older Garmin that is very fussy about the cable. With the supplied lighter socket cable no issue. If you use the USB cable make sure it is a 2amp supply you are plugged into.
And no extensions on the USB cable either.

Nope...it's the 12v cable directly into a socket.

Are you sure the socket is live(and stays live) and the connection is good? We get very frustrated with the 12v sockets, very, very flaky.

I would suggest trying the small USB cable they shipped with the unit into a 2A adapter or perhaps a USB port by the driver. If that works then you have a bad cable or 12V socket is suspect.

Is there a fuse in the plug end of the power cord?

Are you sure it is plugged into the right plug on th 770. We have a 660 and there are 2 places to plug in. One on the bottom(for the PC and uploads) and one in the back for the 12v.

Whew........lots of Qs.

1) I'm not with the RV now (got home) but when the plug went in solidly and the red light on the plug stayed lit.
2) I'll try the USB cable when I go out to the RV Thursday.
3) Not sure if there is a fuse. It's the factory plug.
4) The 770 only has the one port....well, and one for a micro SD card.

The RV660 only has one USB connection as well; on the back. The slot on the bottom is for an SDcard.

My 770 is finicky with power cables. It works great using either the cigar lighter plug or the direct wire plug. When I plug in a UBS cable to a plug in charger, it states something to this effect "cable will not charge unit". I just ordered a new UBS cable from Garmin so I can connect it to my computer so I can move data to/from the 770. Seems all the older ones which work with my 478 and 60CSC don't work with the 770.
