Something to see or do?

I-State Rd 77, in S. Carolina, headed North through N. Carolina, West Virginia, PA, then NY to Niagara Falls. We are ahead of schedule, looking for something to see or do along the way, but not too far from the main route.

Any thoughts/ ideas..... Thanks!!!

I would stop here for 2-3 days:

http://www.mayberrycampground.com/

It's close to I77 and a very well maintained campground. It's also a Passport America member. The little town of Mt Airy has capitalized on being the childhood home of Andy Griffith. You can get a pork chop sandwich at the Snappy Lunch & think you arrived in the 1950s in a time machine.

X2 on "Mayberry"!! While in the area visit Pilot Mtn State Park, not far south of Mt Airy. (Remember "Mt Pilot"?) Pilot Mountain is like a mini-Devil's Tower, but you don't have to drive to Wyoming.

Also when you get into WV on I77, stop at the Tamarack at the Beckley travel plaza. The Tamarack is at the top of the hill overlooking the travel plaza. It is a neat place to see crafts and all things made in WV. It is huge and there is a great restaurant run by the Greenbrier Hotel. There are RV parking spots in their lot.
