Source for info on poor road stretches, Planning a Trip
Other than word of mouth ... Is there a source to review when planning a trip to know what poor roads are on your route so you can plan around them?

If you mean road condition... as you're aware .... they change constantly. What may be a highway in poor condition this year may have been taken care of by next year. Personally, we've never gone out of our way to avoid a stretch of bad road. Just drive slow through it. Pick the route you want to take and make the best of it. The whole country has some bad roads. You just have to investigate the state sites as you travel. Here is one you may use:

Most Canadian provinces have 511 type info on road conditions, and that usually includes closures, construction zones, and other relevant safety info. I would expect most US states have similar websites that can give you some idea of what might lay ahead. I believe Michigan has a road conditions website, for example.
Another benefit of these road conditions websites is they often have live traffic or roadway cams, so you can see in advance what a particular road looks like, although the cameras are always highdef units, so not always a perfect answer.

Wisconsin like many states has a 511 road condition reporting number and a website constantly updated with construction and weather related issues. Many phone apps are available that report nearby conditions. My Garmin will work with my cell phone and an app to provide updates on route roads. It will route around closures.

Yes, I’m talking about bad road ... bad pavement. Others describe long stretch’s of I-10 and others that r horrific to endure, there’s a 10 mile stretch of i55 in AR that will jar you teeth out. If I knew what those were I’d go another way.

Just slow down and enjoy the adventure! We hit a couple of sections of ""poor" roads going through Nebraska a couple of years ago...

Don't do the drive to Alaska if you want smooth pavement!

Or smooth gravel, or dirt, either.
Been there, done that, got the Safelite Autoglass T-shirt to prove it.

swduns...... no state agency phone system is going to give a physical condition report. As soon as they announce publicly their judgement that the highway is in poor condition they’ll be flooded with lawsuits claiming their admittedly deficient roadway caused untold $$millions of damage.
You’ll get traffic and delay info on the 511 system.
