South Florida Travel Cross State
Hello,
I'm a new member to IRV2 so if I didn't post this in the right place, someone please let me know - thanks!
We have a 40' motorhome. We're traveling from the Ft. Lauderdale across the extreme southern part of Florida to the west coast. Has anyone used Hwy 41 rather than I-75. If so, what is the road like? Thanks
Dan

A good road and no problem. A good choice if you don't want the X-way.

Very scenic if you don't want the interstate.

Nothing wrong with 41. I have towed my 28 foot boat to the Keys many times on it. It beats the toll roads going down to the Keys and it is a scenic drive.

If memory serves me, anything North of South Naples, is heavy stop N go driving on US 41. I remember it being very frustrating driving my dually truck from there to Ft. Myers on 41 and took twice a long as the I75 trip the other way.

Just for yall's information highway US 41 is (or was) known as the Tamiami Trail. I was born and raised in Miami and "the trail" used to be the only road between the east and west coasts of Florida. I have some fond memories of going fishing and hunting off the trail.
