Need help in a route to Saratoga Springs NY from the Southern Maryland area. Map quest puts me up the Jersey Turnpike. We won't be in a hurry - attending a Navy Reunion in September. Any suggestions?

Since you're not in a hurry, look at a route to Harrisburg and Wilkes-Barre to bypass the the Jersey turnpike and NYC.
This route is popular with RVers to avoid a lot of traffic congestion.

I'll give you 2 routes we've used. Up through Harrisburg Pa. to 78 to 287 in Jersey to 87 north in NY. It's a bit longer.
Our last trip, we ran 95 up to Philly, took 31 north to 206 to 287 in NJ and then to 87 in NY. Considerably shorter but 2 lane section of 31 is a bit slow.

Bill I live in Central NJ and go up where you're talking about quite often. You can take the NJ Turnpike to exit 11 then get on the Garden State Parkway. Most traffic during the day is going south to the shore. The Parkway connects right to the NY State Thruway.

You would think I would know the best route as I was born in Clifton and lived in West Milford until I was 13 - then moved to Florida - use to visit relatives all the time but haven't been back for about 10 years. Are there any restrictions on the NJ Turnpike or Garden State Parkway regarding RV's?

No restrictions on either road. I go up to a place in Corinth NY just south of Lake George and north of Saratoga Springs. Great bass fishing.
