Spokane to Great Falls Options

In about two weeks will be traveling Spokane WA to Great Falls MT. Semis the only early option is Spokane to Missoula is I90 with plenty of mountain climbing.
However out of Missoula seems to be two options:
1. I90 to US12 then at Helena take I15 into GF
2. I90 further south to Butte MT then I15 to GF
Travel time is not a problem. Which option is the easiest or offers other advantages if any. Thanks!

Hwy 12 is a scenic route. I drive a semi and back when it was legal I would take Hwy 12
all the time. then the trailers got to 53 feet and banned us from going that way.
It follows the river beautiful drive, If you have the time that would be the way to go.
When you first get on 12 there is a hill and when you head north out of Lewiston Id. another hill.

If you want a lot less climbing and a scenic drive, take either US2 from Spokane or Idaho 41 to Newport, then follow US2 to Sandy Poin. In Sandpoint follow 200 along the Clark Fork River back toward Missoula. On the map, it generally runs parallel to I90. It's a gentle climb and a wide, mostly 2 lane road. It's a longer, slower drive but I think it's worth it.

We have done highway 12 from Helena and think it's also a good road. There is some climbing but not too bad, as I recall.

Route to Great Falls From Spokane

We take I-90 to Bonner, Mt, just a bit East of Missoula, and then hiway 200 to I-15, then 10 miles to Great Falls on I-15.

Rogers Pass on hiway 200 is 5609 ft.

Nine Mile Falls, Wa.
