St. Louis to Wall,SD
Leaving St Louis and heading to Wall,SD I have allotted*4 days.* *Looking*at the drive it really will only take me 3.* *Heading thru KC then up to Sioux*Falls, then over to Wall.* * What along the way should we spend a day extra to see?* Thought about adding a day at the Corn Palace but that might be a low priority, or spending 2 in KC.* * Thoughts?
Thanks!

The I90 rest area at Chamberlain, SD has a wonderful Lewis & Clark museum that is well worth an hour or two. The last that I remember, it was closed on Mondays.

Downtown Sioux Falls is pretty cool, one could kill the day there pretty easy and then head over to Falls Park for the evening laser light show if they are still doing it.
There is(was?) a doll museum also in Mitchell.

If you want to take a detour off I90 and you are a Laura Ingalls Wilder fan, it may be worth a stop in De Smet SD

You'll see a couple signs for Wall Drug along the way.....trust me.
Curious why you are going to Wall. Oh..get some ice cream for sure while you are there, it's really good.

East of Wall is The Minuteman Museum. Also the Badlands NP is at the same exit, west end of the NP, as Wall Drug is located.
But, further east of Wall the exit for the Badlands goes into the park. If you take this road, Exit #131, Route 240 into the park it comes out at Wall, S.D. and Wall Drug. This short detour is well worth the time, beautiful park.
Corn Palace, maybe a hour or so, plus there is a Native American Museum in Mitchell. In Mitchell we stayed at Bett's Campground and used our Passport America for a discount. We had lunch down at the old railroad stations, very nice restaurant and good food.
Wall, S.D., you would be close to Mount Rushmore, maybe 100 miles, run over to there and also see Custer State Park, Needles Highway. Choice of bypassing the Corn Palace and going to Mount Rushmore, Mount Rushmore would be the best of the two, for us.

Wall Drugs is your destination?
I'd save that extra day for the Wall Drugs area - Badlands Nat'l Park, Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, etc. Allow extra time to get to Wall Drugs just in case of weather issues or RV/vehicle issues.
Have fun at Wall Drugs!

Wall Drugs\Badlands is our 1st big stop on this summers trip. Spending 12 days in the area including Rushmore, Custer, etc. 4 days in Badlands and 7 in Palmers Gulch KOA, then heading west.
Sounds like there are a few things to do driving that direction. Thanks all for the info!!
PS unfortunately the MM tours are sold out for summer, so all we can do is the visitor center, bummer

Minuteman
Badlands
Definitely a stop at each
You can do the Badlands Loop and get a good experience in your RV. Well worth the stop and time.
We spent 12 days at Rushmore Shadows in Rapid City.
We did it all from there doing day trips. Every thing is an hour or less away
They have great concrete big rig sites. OTA TV, and grocery is a few minutes away.
Here is my review of the CG

You need to hit Deadwood for an afternoon, along with Sturgis.

As a heads up - Deadwood is not all that, every restaurant/bar has slot machines. One of the biggest claims to fame was Wild Bill Hickok was killed there. There are signs showing the location.
When we were there, the group Big & Rich came to town and was doing a concert that evening.

Alpine Inn in Hill City for the filet, it is worth the wait.
It's been a while but there is/was a pretty cool model railroad layout in downtown Deadwood that is worth a visit, a bit tough to find amongst the glitz.
