CA 44 was ok. Shoulder is narrow to non-existent and passing lanes few and far between but traffic was light. Quite a bit of truck traffic. A few 7% down grades as well.
The 'Mountain Directory for Truckers & RVers' has always been very reliable. They don't show any 7% grades on Hwy 44. In fact, they don't show any grade alerts.

Thanks for the question. It appears that some of the route is also CA 89 along with CA 44. The grades were in the section to the north of Lassen Peak.
