Tamworth, NJ to Boothbay, ME
I'm trying to use my Garmin 760 RV gps to drive my 34 foot MH from Tamworth, NJ to Boothbay, ME to the Shore Hills Campground. Looking at a map it looks like I can take Hwy 16 south to Hwy 25 east, then take Hwy 35/US 202 to Freeport, then take US 1 to Hwy 27 which will take me to the park.
I was just trying to avoid going thru Portland and along the coast on I-295, thinking that route would be more congested. However, my gps insists on taking the coastal route on I-295.
I have never been to Maine and am asking; which is the better route? Maybe my intended route is not suitable for motorhomes (I don't know). I am towing a Jeep.
Would appreciate any advice.
Thanks,

Just go up 295, it’s not bad traffic.
I was at Shore Hills back in 2008
The big rig section has nice flat big site.
Us 1 has lots of traffic and red lights. I would use the interstate as far as I could.

I believe you mean Tamworth, NH, not New Jersey...
Check for weight limit bridges and low clearances on the route - drive it virtually with Google Maps street view.
95 to Falmouth Spur to 295 is our preferred route. There's a toll, but it's not hideous.

Yes I meant Tamworth, New Hampshire; and thanks for the route advice.

Wade-
I created a route in Garmin BaseCamp from Tamworth, NH to Boothbay, ME. I used the GPS/BaseCamp RV settings for my coach. BaseCamp didn't complain about your proposed route (16, 25, 95, 295, 1).
As "spuds" suggested, use Google Maps to "drive" the 25 portion in advance; the drive through Westbrook looks to be the worst of it. The rest is of the route should hold no surprises.

Note the use of 196 in the Topsham area to get from 295 to 1.
You don't want to route from Topsham via 201 through Brunswick - it's a weight-limit bridge that is declared unsafe. It is scheduled to be replaced. Plus getting through "downtown" Brunswick can be a pain.
