Tetons to Pittsburgh

I am looking for some advice on a return trip from Yellowstone/Tetons to Pittsburgh. I was planning on US26 out of GTNP to US20 into Sioux City and then pick up I80.

1) I assume US26 and US20 are all 2 lane highway on this stretch? If so, how is the road and travel conditions? I am pulling a 23ft travel trailer.

2) Thoughts on jumping off I80 and route through Indianapolis to avoid Chicago?

3) Anything interesting to see on Rte 20 to Souix City, or I80 to Davenport?

Thanks!

Since my son lives in Cody, we've been doing the trip from our NJ house to Yellowstone pretty much every summer.

I have found the best route which minimizes the climbs and the associated bad weather that comes with altitude (hit snow in WY last June...) goes as follows:

1. I-80 all the way to Ogalalla, NE
2. Take Rt 26 up into WY
3. Take I-25 to Casper
4. Get back on Rt. 26 to Shoshoni
5. Turn right onto Rt. 20 to Thermopolis (stop and bath in the hot springs!)
6. Take Rt. 120 into Cody
7. Rt. 14 to the East entrance of Yellowstone

I-80 goes south of Chicago. Just time it so you're going through off peak. And frankly with COVID, I've found less and less people commuting.

Safe travels!

I'm just not into I-80 Beats your brains out - not that there in much on the top of my head theses days - Look at a Diagonal to RT 36 Just more Pleasant - Couple Good Small town stops in local parks too ($20) - Then after Hannibal to Champaign on to I-70 right to Pittsburg - Easy and while Ohio still Needs work on I-70 it works. Avoids te Big City Rush Hour - Critical!

RT 26 to DuBois is spectacular and be sure to stop and Say Bye to the Tetons as you crest the Divide,

JMHO,

Son Lives in Colorado and Met them in the Tetons last Year - Love RT 36 - life is just easier this way.

Best of Luck,
