Texas Highway 170 Presidio to Terlingua Road Condition

Can anyone tell me the condition of Texas Highway 170 between Presidio and Terlingua? I'd like to know if I'm in for a smooth or bumpy ride in our 45' motorhome (also pulling our Jeep). Thanks in advance!

Very scenic road! I can't say what the pavement is like currently but it was never an issue the several times I've driven the road. As you know, it's narrow and winding. Your passenger will be on the side that drops off to the Rio Grande

It's a very nice, scenic drive. Many RVers drive it.

It was a fine road a few years ago. Wouldn’t hesitate to plan to go down it today in my DP with Excursion toad.
Be sure and spend some time in the Terlingua ghost town. Very interesting unusual place with friendly locals.

As the OP I want to thank all those who replied to my question. We drove 170 yesterday with no issues. Also, to my original question, the road condition was quite good with very few potholes. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this road for any rig.

We took it in November - beautiful, well maintained road.

Texas Highway 170 Presidio to Terlingua Road Condition

ALL of the Texas roads are HORRIBLE! Y’all need to stay in your home states.

We will welcome you with open arms when this pandemic finally blows over.

Have you confirmed you have a place to stay? The roads are O.K. but you really need to stop traveling and stay put for a while.

Texas hwy 170

Last I cked you cant get the virus doing 65 mph on the highway
We’ve been sitting for weeks at a time and if you were out in the parks would realize that we are probably safer traveling by distancing ourselves than to sit in a Rv park and hang out with people in the parks, who everybody thinks ok!🧐
So don’t judge me and my way of dealing with this “pandemic”
