Travel from Sault Ste Marie to Yellowstone NP

Trying a new route west and looking for suggestions for roads and interesting places to visit. We are in no hurry so speeds are not an issue.

OK!! Have a great trip.
You may want to wait until next spring, now it will be cold with snow/ice covered roads.

May want to give info on what roads you have used in the past going there.

Y'stone NP doesn't open for "wheeled" traffic untill about the first of May to mid May with limited tourest facilities, all tourest facilities normally will be open by Memorial Day weekend. The east (Cody, WY) and north east (Cooke City, MT) enterances are the last to open. Even then you can occasionally experence snow! West Y'stone, MT is about 6,000' and Canyon is 7918', Graig pase between old Faithful and West Thumb is 8262'

PM me if you want more information about Y'stone and Grand Teton NPs.

I suggest the south shore of Lake Superior ... then South Dakota ... then Yellowstone.

On the south shore of Lake Superior I like the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore (MI) and Copper Falls (WI)

In South Dakota I like the Black Hills, the Passion Play (Spearfish),

In eastern Wyoming Devils Tower

And on your way to Yellowstone make sure you spend some time in Cody ... they have a fantastic museum ... it is actually four museums in one ...

The Black Hills is two or three days ... Yellowstone is four or five days
