Traveling from Sacramento CA to Montrose CO
We are traveling from Sacramento to Ridgway State Park near Montrose CO next week. We are in a 43' motor home with a 21' car hauler. I'm looking at the route across I-80 then onto I-15, 89, 6, & 191 to get to I-70. Is this route ok or should I stay on I-15 to 50 to I-70 or I-15 to I-70? Any help from those familiar with these routes would be greatly appreciated.

Both work but 50 is just a little more interesting and only 45 minute longer.

Just went Sacramento to Albuquerque via Rt 50 through Ely NV and Monticello UT. Really striking scenery. Lonliest road in america. I would make sure your cooling system is in top shape as you are up and down 4000-7000 feet the entire way. We had overheating problems and the coach is now in the shop for a radiator cleaning. Other than that, great trip.

The section of HWY 50 I am interested in is South of SLC & is only 36 miles long from I-15 to I-70 in Utah. I will be traveling I-80 from Sacramento to Salt Lake City.
From Salt Lake City to I-70 is where I am uncertain of which route to use. From I-15 south of SLC , to use HWY 89/6/191 which is 140 miles OR Stay on I-15 south to HWY 50 which is 36 miles but is also about 1 hour longer drive.

What I think you mean is where to go from Delta, UT. Continue on 50 to I-15 north a short distance and pick up 50 again to Salina and I-70. Take I-70 east to Grand Junction, CO. and pick up 50 into Montrose. All good roads with a RV.

I lived in Utah and Colorado from 1993 until 2013 and toured both states heavily. I'm not a fan of 6/191 in Utah. One lane each direction, often with heavy traffic and people pulling dangerous passing moves. It's been a number of years since I've been on that route so perhaps it's changed.
